Bound

The book never read
the same
as it had.
Before

crisp clean pages
turned brittle and
marred each leafing
threatening damage.
Irrevocable

history left traces of
use untold, obvious,
upon inspection.
Speculators

pieced together a past
in curiosity demanding
of a tale worth sharing,
forgetting the value
of the story.
Kept

subtly quiet and
confidently held in
the trusted inkless spaces,
unnoticed by the
casual browser.
Hapless,

the majority,
readers who tell,
blind to the beauty
in glorious inkless space
only to pass on what was.
Assumed,

a truth untold is of
no worth if validation
is not.
Bound.
